Gemma Black is a distinguished Australian calligrapher. She is an Honoured Fellow of the prestigious Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society, UK. For over 20 years Gemma has taught nationally and internationally. She has joined the faculty of lettering-art conferences in Australia, the USA, Canada and the UK. Her work hangs in many private and public collections including the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK. The European Parliament and Parliament House Canberra. Amongst her clients Gemma includes the Commonwealth Government of Australia, various departments and the National Gallery of Australia. FELLOWSHIP CONCLUSIONS & OUTCOMES
The opportunity to connect with and learn from highly skilled calligraphers and lettering artists in Europe has not only benefited Gemma but her many like-minded friends and students as well. Doors have been opened to major collection houses such as the Victoria & Albert Museum and the British Library and many strong networks have been forged due to this Fellowship.
Subsequently lettering arts communities in Australia are strong and well connected due to some very fine calligraphers having received Churchill Fellowships.
